About:
Tim Grocott of Taus Ceramic creates handcrafted ceramics that are modern in design yet functional and long-lasting.
His pieces are defined by the process of custom plaster moulds and slipcast porcelain, achieving a considered and precise design style. Aside from his own range of products, Tim offers mould-making workshops for those interested in learning the craft.
The Taus studio is based in rural Waipapa, Te Tai Tokerau Northland.
Suitable for both beginners and those wanting to hone their mould making skills, this practical workshop will cover the whole process of making a two–piece plaster mould. Students will select a decorative glass bottle, and use boxes to form the mould. Tim covers the different aspects of mould making, demonstrates the process of slipcasting using plaster moulds, enabling students to work the skill into their own future practice.
Please bring a knife, a metal rib and a metal ruler if you have one.
Everything else will be provided.

Clean up times are within the 7 hours allocated for class time
If a workshop is unable to go ahead on the planned date due to the tutor being Covid positive, we will reschedule these events to a later date. Refunds will only be possible if no suitable alternative date can be found
