About: Levi Yastrow is a ceramic artist and educator based in the United States. He will also be travelling to Aotearoa for Nelson Clay Week and will be teaching a workshop at ASP on the 11th of October.
Levi is a ceramic artist with over twenty years of experience working in community studios, nonprofit arts organizations, and educational institutions.
His teaching focuses on building confidence and technical fluency in functional pottery through approachable demonstrations and hands-on exploration. Levi’s workshops emphasize expressive forms, thoughtful surface development, and practical studio knowledge, helping makers at all levels expand their skills while developing a stronger personal voice in clay.
Participants in this workshop will explore practical techniques for creating handles that are comfortable, visually balanced, and structurally strong. Through demonstration and hands-on practice, students will learn multiple handle-making methods including pinched, pulled, hand built, and shaped handles, along with strategies for attaching handles to complement the form.
Skill Level Beginner to advanced.
