About: After working together on big outside works, now on a smaller scale we have our roles and value the other’s input, in a trusting capacity to work jointly. In this series, Kate was responsible for the printed imagery and Matt for the carving and clay manipulation

Medium: Printed, carved and altered earthenware

Dimensions: 60 / 30 / 10 cm

Price: $1,200

About: In a recent series of work, we used map imagery printed onto articulated clay surfaces to explore how two contrasting kinds of image making might interact. In this work, we chose powerline and hurricane netting images instead. Like maps they comprise extensive networks of linear components that partly describe the landscape they cover, partly contradict it, imposing their own human logic. Aware that underlaying clay forms evoke landforms, we are conscious that they are, in fact hand formed objects, like pots.

Dimensions: 63 / 30 / 12 cm

Price: $1,200

About: Having worked together for many years, shared studios, built and fired kilns etc., we also sometimes collaborate in an organized way. This can be because a project is simply too big for one to handle, or in order to combine our specialist skills. We hope that by so doing, creativity will happen that wouldn’t otherwise, by us each working alone.
