The totems at Auckland Studio Potters were vandalized in middle of 2022. It was a very sad occasion. The original totems were (fill in the blank who when and other details) it's part of ASP history was missing. Iza and Sung Hwan simulanitously had the idea of making new totems to honor what was there and also introduce new sculptures to the ASP collection. The project was submitted to ASP committee which allowed the artists to have a larger conversation about the method of building, materials involved, styles of sculptures and making it fit for purpose, a permanent fixture to the entrance to the main studio.
Having come up with a plan, Iza threw the segments on the wheel and Sung Hwan worked on modifying the segments and stylyising on surfaces. The heart of the project was to create and be playful.
After a whole year, the project is now compete and it is Iza and SungHwans great pleasure to introduce Lucky 13². Iza and Sung Hwan would like to say thank you to Auckland Studio Potters community for all the support that was given through out the entire process.
