Farewell to our much loved Lex Dawson.

Old friend and long-time ASP member, Lex Dawson, passed away a couple of days ago.

Not only was Lex a Life Member of the ASP, but he was also Director of the Teaching Centre for a long period, and an active professional potter and teacher for well over forty years. He was always generous with his time and advice and went out of his way to make both ASP visitors and members feel really relaxed and at home at the Centre.

Lex was Artist in Residence in recent times and enjoyed reviving his throwing skills and showing all of us how to use clay in an unforced and sympathetic way.

He will be missed by the ASP "family" and the wider network of potters around the country.

Funeral Wednesday

Lex's funeral is to take place at the Mangere Lawn Cemetery (www.mangerecemetery.co.nz) on Wednesday 30th November at 11am. Everyone is welcome there at that time to help remember Lex's life.

There will also be a chance to drink a toast to Lex at the ASP Centre. After the Big Clay Day Out is cleared away next Sunday 4th December, we plan to wind down the day with a few drinks for Lex around a fire in the courtyard, starting at 4.30pm. We'll cook a few sausages and there will be music as well. It would be good to see you there.

Please bring a bottle of wine to share.
