5-day Lithophane workshop with Ilona Romule 22 - 26 January 2018.

We are excited to announce our first workshop for 2018 is a Lithophane Workshop run by Latvian Ceramist Ilona Romule. Lithophanes are made of fine sheets of translucent white porcelain with a decorative motif etched in negative, usually views of famous cities, landscapes, historical events, indoor family scenes or children subject matters. When lit from behind, these sheets show the scene in positive, creating a three dimensional effect.

Cost: $300 for 5 full days tuition. Materials and tools extra.

All the details are in the pdf attachment. Please have a read and if you’re keen to sign up we will need to know asap. Please email the office at asp@ceramics.co.nz to book your place.

An evening with Ilona Romule

Please join us for dinner at 6pm, at the ASP centre this Thursday 25 January and then from 7pm Ilona will present a slide show and a talk about her work. We have Ilona’s work on display in the Pool Room and available for purchase.

This is a one-off opportunity to own work made by Ilona, which will only be available until Friday 4pm. As well as Ilona’s work, we are showing and selling the work of her partner, Jacob Meudt.

Please bring a salad/side dish, BYO drinks and a Koha would be appreciated to go towards Ilona’s travel expenses.

If you can make it, please email the office at asp@ceramics.co.nz so we can get an idea of numbers for catering.
