The 53rd annual Auckland Studio Potters 'Fire & Clay' Exhibition opens 14 November at TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre, Pah Homestead in Hillsborough. The exhibition showcases and awards the outstanding pottery and ceramics of our members. This is a selected exhibition and open to all fully-paid current members of Auckland Studio Potters.
Our selector this year is Mary-Louise Browne, current Gallery Manager of Two Rooms Gallery in Grey Lynn. Browne graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in 1982. Since then she has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand and overseas, is represented in both public and private collections, and has produced several major public art commissions. Also special thanks to John Parker who will be designing the exhibition for us again.
This years guest exhibitor is Whanganui-based ceramic artist Aaron Scythe. Aaron’s vessels combine influences from Japan and Aotearoa with an innate sensibility for decoration, as well a sense of humour – his work is masterful, beautiful and intriguing.
