The Judge

Janet DeBoos is one of Australia's most respected ceramicists and has been Head of Ceramics at the Canberra School of Art at the ANU over ten years. Janet DeBoos exhibits regularly in Australia and internationally and is represented in many major permanent public collections in Australia, UK, Canada, China, Taiwan, Belgium, and New Zealand including the National Gallery of Australia, The National Museum of China and the Musee de Mariemont, Belgium.

Janet has authored and co-authored three books about ceramic glazes: Glazes for Australian PottersMore Glazes for Australian Potters and Handbook for Australian Potters.

The Awards Ceremony

The premier Portage Ceramic Award carries a prize of $15,000. There are up to three merit awards totaling $3000. There is also a workshop at Peters Valley School of Craft, New Jersey, USA on offer as a prize.

The awards will be announced at the awards ceremony held at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery in Titirangi on November 10 at 6.30pm. For tickets to this event please contact Te Uru
